Biography

I am an academic, design consultant, author and PhD supervisor. I research the theory and design of multi-sensory, interactive, narrative environments, physical and/or virtual spaces that tell stories or allow stories to be told, such as exhibitions, branded and leisure environments or urban and community environments.

I co-edited The Future of Museum and Gallery Design published by Routledge in 2018 and contributed a chapter ‘The Designer’s Role in Museums that Act as Agents of Change’ and I am currently writing a book Narrative Environments and Experience Design: Space as a Medium of Communication to be published by Routledge in 2020.

I co-devised the series of international summits titled ‘Re-envisioning Exhibition Design’. The series started with ‘Chaos at the Museum: Designing for Audience Participation’ in London, 2014. The second was ‘Chaos at the Museum: Infiltrating the Urban Fabric’ Buenos Aries, 2016. I have run many live projects in partnership with industry affiliates such as Cisco and Arup Foresight and Innovation. I have lectured in Europe and Asia and led collaborative narrative environments projects with universities and governmental organisations across the world.
