Post-Grad Community

UAL is home to more than 7,000 postgraduate students working across the fields of art, design, screen, communication, fashion, media and performance.  Within our six world-renowned colleges and the Creative Computing Institute, we aim to form a creative network of artists, designers and innovators.

Post-Grad Community is an inclusive platform for UAL postgraduate students and alumni to share work, find opportunities and connect with other creatives within the University and beyond.

Ambassadors assist with creating innovative and sociable online or face to face extra-curricular events and act a point of contact for the Post-Grad Community across colleges and courses.

We proudly present our new team of Ambassadors:

MA Global Collaborative Design Practice at Camberwell College of Arts

Hello, I'm Ankita. I've been an Architect and educator for the past few years and grew up in Mumbai, India. I am currently pursuing a MA/M.Engg in Global Collaborative Design Practice jointly hosted between UAL and Kyoto Institute of Technology.

I'm interested in multi-disciplinary modes of designing, focused on complex social issues. I also delve in writing and recently published my first anthology of poems titled - The Youth We Left Behind. I love making things and experimenting with different forms of craft and media for example - ceramics, diy-making and culture content through YouTube videos.

As a postgraduate ambassador, I want to work towards fostering more interconnectedness, a vibrant social network of care and cross-disciplinary learning amongst the various cohorts.

Mac Clapper, MA Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins

McCalister Clapper (He/Him)

MA Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins

Hi! I’m Mac.  I’m from southwest Virginia in the States and am on my final year of study on MA Graphic Communication Design at Central saint Martins. I’ve been in and out of London since 2021. I’m interested in pop culture (music, film, tv), photography, graphic design, running, hiking, biking, and animals (I have two cats and a dog back home, hehe). In my work, I experiment with deconstructing graphic design as a practice, subverting expectations of what a graphic design practice looks like.

As a Post-Grad Community Ambassador, my goal is to organize events that foster a sense of community among the LGBTQ+ community, strengthen meaningful connections between members of the postgraduate student community, and provide opportunities for collective learning and skill-sharing.

I'm Winnie, and I'm from Abuja, Nigeria. I work as an artist, maker, designer, and business owner. I am committed to using design as a force for social change, and I look for fresh, inclusive solutions to time-honoured issues. Travelling, photography, and abstract ideas all intrigue me.

As a Post-Grad Community Ambassador, my goal is to close the physical gap between postgraduate students at our six colleges.

I have been an Ambassador for a year already and currently run the Mindful Knitters Interest Group!

Frederike Herkströter, MA Fashion Journalism and Content Creation at London College of Fashion

Frederike Herkströter (She/Her)

MA Fashion Journalism & Content Creation at London College of Fashion

My name is Frederike, I’m 24, and from Amsterdam. Always having had an interest in fashion, I never knew how to connect creativity within the structured academic path I pursued. Completing a BA in History with a minor in Fashion Studies, discovering Fashion Journalism and Content Creation was a turning point—it bridged my academic skills with creative passions.

Now nearing graduation, I understand the challenge —as do many of my peers— of soon entering the workforce. Therefore, as a Post-Grad Community Ambassador, I aim to support students like me by expanding initiatives that foster professional connections and collaboration. My goal is to help students build confidence, learn from and support one another, and develop a positive outlook on their future careers.

UAL offers a unique platform to create change, and I want to ensure this generation of postgraduates has the tools to thrive after graduation.
