Aesthetica Magazine features in-depth stories that foreground today’s most innovative practitioners across art, design, photography, architecture, music and film. Over the last few years, University of the Arts London (UAL) has built a creative partnership with the magazine which has included the publication of London College of Communication’s (LCC) photography graduates in Aesthetica Magazine, as well as visiting lectures from Director, Cherie Federico, who was given an Honorary Doctorate from UAL this summer.

As well as the print magazine, there is also the Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF), held from 6 – 10 November in York. The festival, now in its 9th edition, showcases over 400 Short and Feature films across 12 genres including Comedy, Fashion, Drama, Dance and Documentary.

As part of ASFF’s Showcase Screenings on Friday 8 November, graduates and lecturers from LCC and London College of Fashion (LCF) will be in attendance – where UAL’s graduate films will be shown to the festival’s international audiences. LCF will also be hosting a masterclass on Fashion Film: Impact and Responsibility on Saturday 9 November.

There are also Virtual Reality and Immersive Experience Labs – in collaboration with LCC – where you can experience the latest in expansive filmmaking. These run for the full five days of the festival.

The festival boasts 100+ industry, social and networking events. Meet with key representatives from BBC, The Guardian, British Vogue, Nowness, Compulsory, i-D, Sky, Film 4, Industrial Light & Magic and many more. This year, ASFF’s masterclass programme welcomes Rankin – LCC alumnus and founder of Dazed, Hunger and AnOther Magazine, as well as BAFTA, Emmy and Oscar-winning filmmakers.

Each year, the festival welcomes over 20,000 attendees – including both emerging and established artists, filmmakers, directors, producers, photographers, cinematographers and cinema lovers. It is the ideal opportunity to meet up with fellow UAL alumni and see recent graduate work alongside projects from today’s industry experts.
